I came across this church sometime ago but kept forget to post it. I didn’t get to take pictures inside the church but the inside of the church has a big circular room where the chancel is held which makes it feel more open and relax compared to just straight rows of seats in a cubed building.
LeFrak Center at Lakeside is 75,000 square foot and a year round skating and recreation facility. In the cold seasons, both rinks are open for ice skating and during the warm seasons, the rink outside is changed into a water play area for kids and the rink inside under a monumental canopy is for roller skating.
The building is made out of stone, steel, and concrete. The stone walls don’t look like a building but it seems to be part of the landscape. The monumental canopy underside is midnight blue and carved with silver patterns that were inspired by figure skating footwork patterns and it is supported by irregularly placed columns.
